To make
well-informed decisions about health care clinicians, policy
makers, funders and patients need access to reliable evidence
about the effects of health care interventions. Unfortunately,
people are often not aware of the evidence that is available,
the evidence is disorganised and inaccessible, or appropriate
evidence does not exist. Evidence-based health care is the conscientious,
explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making
health care decisions.
