South Africa is in the process of developing a Health Technology Assessment (HTA) mechanism as part of a broader regulatory framework. A broadly representative Interim National Steering Committee on Health Technology Assessment has been formed and is actively at work seeking a unique HTA solution to independently, equitably, transparently and cost-effectively serve all sectors of our South African Healthcare system. The Interim Steering Committee has been tasked to present its findings and recommendations to the South African National Department of Health.

The purpose of this website is to provide all stakeholders with an overview of work performed towards achieving this goal and to seek ongoing constructive input towards this process from any interested persons or organisations.
