how much should I eat?

THE VARIED DIET

Well without knowing how much is adequate to eat, lots of people have the tendency to overindulge. To make things easier each food group has a number of daily servings. Rather than using a scale, the quantities of each serving size can essentially be judged by the eye.

The suggested number of servings and serving sizes to eat from each food group for the general population is as follows: -

Food Groups

Daily Servings

Bread, cereals, rice and pastas

6 – 11

Vegetables

3 – 5 or more

Fruit

2 – 4 or more

Milk, cheese and other dairy products

2 – 3

2 – 3

Fats, sweets, alcoholic beverages
