minerals

Minerals are inorganic compounds that originate in the Earth and cannot be made by living systems. They are divided into macrominerals (bulk elements) and microminerals (trace elements). Macrominerals are required in larger amounts than microminerals.

Most of our minerals come from plants that absorb the minerals from soil. We also get minerals form from animals sources and water.

Minerals are essential in adequate amounts as they perform many vital roles in the body:-
  • to maintain the structure of bones and teeth,

  • as parts of various compounds,
  • and as dissolved ions in body fluids
